With all the vlogging I do while traveling and on my old MacBook Pro, I only had 256GB of space. But do I need one of these drives with my new M3 MacBook Pro with 1TB of space?
Space
I needed space, so I got a hard drive for video storage while traveling. I turned that drive into a backup for all my videos created in iMovie.
My 2019 MacBook Pro only had 256 GB of space, and let me tell you, it was always running out. That is why I picked up this one.
Find a blog about the drive.
But that is being used for backup purposes. I needed something different
WD SSD
This time, I went with a Solid-state hard drive while traveling for backup. I needed something good. So I went with the following:
It is a Western Digital (WD) Solid State (SSD) 2 TB drive made for Mac.
It is a nice little drive. It is harder to lose your data if you drop it. I mean, you really shouldn’t drop the drive anyway, but things happen.
I have used the drive on several trips, and it is excellent for keeping your files organized and safe. I organize my files a bit differently, but that is fine. But downloading and organizing the videos by day or vlogging folder is nice.
Thoughts
I like to have a backup of my stuff. Now that my MacBook M3 has 1 TB of storage, I can place everything on the MacBook. But still, things can happen, so I like to carry this drive to put everything on that.
Yeah, that stuff can happen, and the possibility of losing the data is always there, but putting it on an SSD makes it safer and more accessible. I hope.
You will always need a backup, and so I have one. Do you think 2TB will be enough for my videos? I am not shooting in 4 K right now, so I will be fine. When I start shooting at 4K, I must pick up another one for traveling purposes.
When I get home, all the data is moved to my server, so I don’t need to get a new one every time I travel.
