On Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, there was an outage on the internet. Did it matter? Let’s find out
Outage
The following social media websites and apps were down:
All owned by one company did it really matter. Maybe you got some more work done. Maybe you spent some time with family.
It didn’t really matter to me. So they were down, oh, well. But I had another issue.
My phone
I was on my phone and tried to get access to Facebook, and it wasn’t working fine, I tried Instagram and it wasn’t working either. Thinking that there was an issue with my phone, I went to restart it. I couldn’t get into settings to shut it down.
It kept opening and closing and I figured it was an issue with my phone. So I forced my phone to shut down. The only issue was that it didn’t come back up. (Insert swear word)
Not restarting
I have an iPhone, and I know that you are saying get Android. Not now, people. It was just stuck on the Apple Logo. After about 30 min of trying to get this fixed and looking at the documentation. I broke down and hit up Apple chat support.
After 30 min of walking through everything, I have done already. We finally plugged the phone into my MacBook Pro and I forced it into recovery mode. I went with the update option but that failed, So I had to force it back into the recovery mode, and I had to reset to the factory settings. (insert swear word)!!!
Factory settings
The phone was updated and then set to factory settings, I then went to set it up with a backup and found that my phone didn’t back up after I made some changes to my phone over the weekend. The last backup was Oct. 2, 2021. (insert swear word) So, I set it up with the last backup. I had some issues getting back into some of the 2-factor authentication that I set up over the weekend. Oh, great! On the bright side, I was finally able to reset a password to an app that wasn’t allowing me to reset the password but the app was working.
Some Apps
I went to use an app, I use every day, and I was logged out. Great, what was the email I used for this? I got logged back in after I sent a password reset and it got caught as spam.
Video
I did a video of this as well.
My Thoughts
Thinking that my phone was the issue, caused me to have a huge headache with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I was thinking I could get the new iPhone 13 Pro Max. Next time just double-check before you restart your phone.
I had a fun day working and trying to get my phone working.
