I was scrolling YouTube one day, like always, and I came across a new microphone from DJI. I was like What the heck. I need that.
DJI Mic
A while ago, I mentioned picking up the following DJI mic set. https://www.iamgadgetguy.com/dji-mic/ This was a game-changer for my audio setup. I still use it today, as it works with my iPhone, Osmo Action, Osmo Pocket, and Osmo Action 4. With an adapter, it will work with the OSMO Action and Pocket. The action four plugs into the USB-C port and is nice. It also works with my Canon. But I wanted to get a DJI Mic 2, specifically about the Bluetooth connection capabilities with the Action 4 and Pocket 3.
But then I saw something else, and that caught my eye.
Mini Mic
I saw that DJI just put out a mini mic. No thrills or additional stuff. Just a plain old mini mic.

Now this comes in a set of two, just like the original DJI Mic.

Or you can get it as a single.

As I said before, it’s just a simple mic. There is no spot for a lazier mic to be plugged in. The magnet has a blank side so that the DJI logo doesn’t pop out.

Connection
It does connect to my OSMO Action Four via Bluetooth, which is nice, and I think it’s a game-changer for my audio in YouTube videos.
It connects to my iPhone, which is super cool. But it doesn’t work with the iPhone camera. I know, right? What the heck!! Appl,e can we fix this issue?
To use the DJI mic with my iPhone, I had to download a separate video app. I thought I would be able to create things on my iPhone more efficiently and quickly due to the Bluetooth connection this Mic Mini offered. But Apple and the DJI mic aren’t working together, and it is a bummer. But, at least there is a workaround. Also, it doesn’t work on the iPad camera. I know it’s a bummer, right?
The volume of the mic is quite, I feel like I am talking loudly but it comes across as quite. Since I have the single one, it can’t increase or decrease the gain. But that is fine. That’s why you have a volume control in your chosen video editor.
Thoughts
This is a nice little addition to my audio setup. I use it mostly on my Action 4 because I can connect via Bluetooth, and I don’t have to carry around a receiver and transmitter. But I only wish it would work with the iPhone camera. But that is fine. There are others out there that will do the trick and might be better. I might have to look into those options.
I have looked into those options and found one that I like, and I will be using it. That 3rd-party app works pretty well.
Well, at least if they are free until I can find a job and make an income. So I can get things.
