What is it
It is a line of digital media player that you plug into your TV USB slot. You can use a mobile device or personal computer to stream to the device and it will play on your TV. Well isn’t that cool. They have an audio one as well, that it just plays audio.
Cost
It went on sale in the USA for $35 dollars. So it wasn’t that expensive and people could afford this.

I don’t have one and I don’t want to sound like I know what this is all about, I don’t. From what I have read it is a neat little gadget. It can do some good things. For people that don’t have access to a media server. You can plug this into the TV and then connect it to your computer and stream the movie. I have found some of the information on wikepedia.org
